My background
I've spent 15+ years in IT and systems administration, running the systems behind larger organizations: email, identity, security, cloud, and automation. That means Microsoft 365 and Exchange, user accounts and sign-in security, DNS and domains, backups, and a lot of scripting to make repetitive work run itself.
Small businesses rarely get that kind of experience. They get a friend who's good with computers, a website builder that leaves the email half-working, or an IT company that wants a monthly contract for a five-person office.
Why I started Smaltech
I kept seeing the same problems: a business still using a personal Gmail address, invoices landing in customers' spam folders, a domain registered to a web designer nobody can reach anymore. None of these are hard to fix for someone who does this every day. They just need to be set up properly once, and explained so the owner isn't stuck.
So that's what Smaltech does, at prices that make sense for a small business.
How I work
- Fixed quotes. You know the price before I start, and it doesn't change without your OK.
- Plain English. I'll explain what I'm doing and why, without the jargon.
- Everything in your name. Your domain, email, and website belong to you, not to me.
- Written handoff. Every login and setting is documented, so you or anyone else can take it from there.
- Remote. The work is done by phone and screen sharing, so there's no waiting for a visit.
- Honest scope. I don't run a 24/7 help desk, and I'll tell you if a job isn't a good fit for me.
