IT help for small businesses, without a monthly contract

For when something's broken, risky, or eating your time. I fix it, explain it in plain English, and give you a fixed written quote before I start. 15+ years in IT and systems administration.

What I help with

Most of the calls I get from small offices fall into a few groups. If yours doesn't fit neatly, that's fine. Tell me what's going on and I'll tell you honestly whether I'm the right person for it.

Account security

  • Multifactor authentication (MFA) turned on for email, payment tools and admin accounts
  • Safer logins: a password manager for the team instead of a shared spreadsheet or sticky notes
  • A review of who has admin access to your email, domain, website and key apps, and old accounts removed
  • Recovery phone numbers and emails checked, so the business can get back in if someone leaves

Lost access and messy setups

The website was built by a nephew who moved away. The domain is registered to a former employee's Gmail. Nobody knows which of three accounts pays for email. I recover or untangle domain, website and email logins, move them into the business's name, and write down where everything lives so it doesn't happen again.

Domain and DNS problems

Email suddenly bouncing, the website down after a renewal, a new service that won't verify, or customers saying your messages land in spam. I check the domain's DNS records (MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC and the rest), fix what's wrong, and make sure email is properly configured and verified.

Automations that save time

Connecting the tools you already use: a website form that drops into a spreadsheet and sends you a text, invoices that send a payment link, follow-up emails that go out on their own. Small, clearly scoped jobs that give you back hours each week.

An honest comparison

Fixed-price projects or a managed IT contract?

Both are reasonable. They suit different businesses.

A managed IT contract

Usually a monthly fee per user, often on a one- to three-year agreement, with device monitoring, a help desk and on-site visits. That makes sense for a larger office with many computers, a server, or compliance rules to meet. If that's you, a local managed IT provider is the better fit.

Fixed-price projects

A 1 to 10 person business that mostly lives in email, a website and a few cloud apps often doesn't need all that. It needs things set up right, fixed properly when they break, and checked now and then. You pay for the work, not for a seat count every month.

What I don't do

I don't offer on-site visits, hardware repair, printers, cabling or office network equipment. I'm not a 24/7 help desk and I don't monitor your computers. If you need those, I'll say so up front.

Scheduled Support & Maintenance

For businesses that want someone to keep things tidy without a big contract. We agree on planned, recurring work done at set times: adding and removing accounts, a periodic security review of who has access, checking that domain and email settings are still right, and keeping your handoff notes current. It's quoted to fit what you actually need.

To be clear about what it isn't: it's not a 24/7 help desk, there's no monitoring, and urgent fixes outside the agreed schedule are quoted separately.

FAQ

IT help questions

Do you come on-site?

No. All my work is done remotely, by phone, text and screen sharing. Accounts, domains, email and cloud apps are all managed online, so this is usually faster than waiting for a visit. I don't do hardware repair, printers, cabling or networking equipment.

Is this managed IT services?

No. There's no monthly per-user contract, no monitoring and no help desk. You get fixed-price projects, and optionally Scheduled Support & Maintenance for planned recurring work.

Something is broken right now. Can you help today?

Call or text (864) 702-8223 and tell me what's happening. I reply within one business day, and if I can fit it in sooner I will. I don't promise emergency response times, so I'll be straight with you about when I can start.

How do you charge for a small fix?

The same way as a bigger job: a short call, then a fixed written price. If it's a five-minute fix, I'll tell you that too.

What do I get at the end?

The fix, plus a short written handoff: what was wrong, what I changed, and where your logins and settings live now.
